The Sporting Life

Whether you love to be in the midst of a big social group, cheering your team on; prefer to sit alone quietly with a drink and a great plate of food; meet a few friends to talk and watch;  or like to be in the game, we have an option for you!

Masala of India Cuisine
Just so you know, Masala has settled into their new digs, one building away from their old spot in the Northgate area. Although the distance is short, the difference is great. Your favorite dishes are still available, along with some delicious Mediterranean items, a sparkling new buffet island center court, and a full-on bar against one wall. And this is where sports watching comes in--several TVs allow you to enjoy your favorite sport and the most-anticipated games. While you're cheering your team on, enjoy a bar menu that includes hummous, a Tandoori chicken burger and more. Prices range from $2.50-$7.95-score! If you happen to be there for happy hour, look for cocktail samosas, garlic mussels, mini corn dogs, and other bar snacks, all in that same bar menu price range. If you trust your bartender (and you should), go for "Your Call." The bartender selects a spirit and mixer and you get a tasty cocktail for a tasty price. Visit the new spot today! It's second to naan.

Masala is located at 507G NE Northgate Way, next to 24 Hour Fitness. Free parking in the garage! Lunch is offered Monday-Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dinner is offered daily 3-9 p.m. Happy hour is available from 3-7 p.m. daily and all day Sunday. "Your Call" in the bar is offered daily 11 a.m.-close and all day Friday and Saturday. 206-417-1118. www.masalaofindia.com

O'Asian Kitchen & Lounge
A high-end, modern Chinese restaurant with a sophisticated bar may not seem like the most likely choice for watching sports. But time spent in front of the TVs in the bar at O'Asian will always be a happy diversion. The full bar offers traditional and O'Asian specialty cocktails, wine, beer, Japanese sake and vodka, and premium hard-to-find Asian teas. Their signature Green Tini is a vodka cucumber beverage you won't soon forget (or if your team is doing badly, you can have several to forget them). Traditional Chinese cooking techniques are used to create delicious dishes using Northwest ingredients. Choose from the extensive menu or ask for seafood from the live tank. Dishes range from mild to spicy depending on the region they come from--create a meal with differing spice levels and flavors or order your favorite and enjoy every last bite yourself! If you're there during happy hour, you're in for a treat. Beer, house wines, wells, and a specialty cocktail are available for $3-5. Appetizers include their signature wasabi prawns, tender calamari, crispy tofu, spicy string beans, Kobe-style Wagyu cubes and much more. All for $4-7. Watch sports with your friends in comfort, with good food and drink and you'll be hooked!

SPECIAL DEAL! Mention that you saw this in Seattle DINING! and O'Asian will give you 50% off your first appetizer, even during happy hour!

The Resort at Port Ludlow and Fireside Restaurant
Sporting events are just one of the many reasons to head to The Resort at Port Ludlow. If you're looking for privacy, watch the game in your room while enjoying room service and great views of Ludlow Bay and the Olympic Mountains. If you want to be social, but not part of a raucous sport venue, head to The Fireside lounge, an intimate spot with one TV where you can commiserate or celebrate with a few locals, other visitors and the friendly staff. And when you just have to get out there and be part of the sporting life yourself, you can golf on the 18-hole championship course, kayak in single or double kayaks, or hike, all right at Ludlow. Whether you're watching or participating, you'll love Chef Dan Ratigan's food--the freshest, local food prepared simply to enhance the natural goodness. Sunday brunch is a great time to watch the games and kick back with a mimosa and French toast. The lounge offers cocktails, beer and an extensive wine list. Before the game, let Chef Dan know you'd like to sample his tasting menu for dinner and you'll be in for a treat. Or plan your sporting weekend around an event like the Camaraderie Cellars four-course winemaker dinner on April 26. The Resort and Fireside are the perfect spots to relax, enjoy the sporting life, and great food and drinks.

The Resort at Port Ludlow is located at One Heron Road in Port Ludlow, Washington. The Fireside Restaurant is located inside the resort. Breakfast is served 7-11 a.m. followed by lunch 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Edge Grill
The grill formerly known as FOX, Edge is still a sports mecca with too many screens to count, including at least one in every semi-private/private room (no sense in missing the game for a business meeting, right?) and the main dining room. With unobstructed sight lines from seats at the counter or tables in the bar, there is no missing anything, unless your head starts to spin with the number of sporting events going on at once. A range of sporting events and entertainment programming is offered every day. While they've kept popular items like wings by the pound, steaks, and nachos, they've expanded the menu to include dishes like wild mushroom penne, fish tacos, jambalaya, jerked chicken, salads, burgers, sandwiches and soup. If you can't find something to eat here, you're not trying that hard. They offer a diverse selection of specialty drinks and wines, and of course beer. During happy hour, expect $4 drinks and $5 eats. Check out the new Grill and get your sports on!

Edge Grill is located at 1522 6th Avenue in downtown Seattle, open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. Happy hour takes place 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 p.m.-close daily, and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday in the street level cafe. 206-340-1369. www.edgegrillseattle.com
