Tips for Submitting a Recipe to Seattle DINING!
Select a descriptive title that clearly indicates what the dish is and includes relevant keywords. “Herb-Crusted Salmon” is more specific than “Seafood Delight.” Using precise ingredients helps others discover your recipe.
Description
Offer a brief, enticing summary of your dish. For instance, check out SavoryChef’s description for Spicy Mango Chicken: "This spicy mango chicken dish is a flavorful and quick option for dinner! Ideal for a fast meal paired with steamed rice. Enjoy this delicious and wholesome recipe!"
BakerBelle’s description for Perfectly Soft Chocolate Cookies adds a helpful hint: "Soft and chewy chocolate cookies with a rich flavor. This straightforward recipe is always a hit and easy to remember. Substitute white chocolate chips for a different twist."
Avoid using italicized text, bold formatting, excessive punctuation, or emojis.
Ingredients
Include Measurements: Provide exact quantities for consistent results. Instead of "bell peppers, seasoning to taste, and herbs," write "1 cup diced bell peppers; 2 teaspoons mixed seasoning; and 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro."
List Ingredients in Order: Arrange ingredients in the sequence they are used in the recipe to facilitate ease of use.
Include Ingredient Prep: If a recipe requires chopped carrots, shredded cheese, or minced garlic, list these details in the ingredient section rather than the method steps.
Directions
Be Clear: Detail each step thoroughly and use all listed ingredients. Instead of "combine everything," specify "Combine flour, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a bowl until well blended."
Include Temperatures: Provide precise oven settings (e.g., 400°F) and stove heat levels (e.g., medium heat).
Specify Pan Size and Type: For baking recipes, detail exact pan dimensions and types, such as a 9-inch pie dish or a 7x11-inch baking pan.
Include Finishing Tips: Assist cooks in determining when the dish is finished. For instance, instead of "Bake for 20 minutes," write "Bake until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, approximately 20 minutes."
Time
Always include preparation and cooking times. If your recipe requires no cooking, enter zero for cook time.
Snap a pic of your dish/cocktail and one of yourself.
Attach a photo of your completed dish to illustrate its final appearance and appeal! And, we’d love to be able to show our readers who has conceived this dish/cocktail.
