An Eye-Opening Experience: Mentorship Under Sur La Table's Executive Chef, Peter Levine

PART I

For the past 8 weeks, I’ve been on an incredible journey, immersing myself in the professional kitchen routines at Sur La Table, the largest cooking school in America. It felt like an "undercover boss" experience, as I learned the inner workings of a pro kitchen, honing my home chef skills to prepare for a bigger role as a chef and the editor of Seattle DINING!

Working closely with kitchen aids and the talented Executive Chef Peter Levine has been eye-opening. His expertise and mentorship have taught me more than I could have imagined, and I’m already planning to return to Sur La Table cooking classes in the fall, right after their kitchen remodel.

But the best part is yet to come—on October 23rd, I’ll showcase my newfound skills at the prestigious James Beard Taste America event, where I’ll host a tasting table alongside a surprise celebrated local chef. I can’t wait to bring everything I’ve learned to this incredible opportunity!

Stay tuned for the announcement about who our surprise chef will be!

By the way, Sur La Table is hiring for the following positions: Chef Instructor, Pastry; Chef Instructor, Savory; Culinary Lead, Floor Lead, Kitchen Assistant, and; Sales Associate, Kirkland, WA.
