September's seasonal changes

Great food is everywhere in September-Dungeness crab, brunch, harvest dinners, fall menus. Not so sad about summer coming to an end now…

20th Annual Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival

If it takes more than the festival name to grab you, you're not a true Northwesterner! Who can resist an outdoor waterfront festival with sweet Dungeness crab? Or a 17,000-square-foot tent called First Fed Crab Central for just-caught whole crab dinners with fresh corn and coleslaw. Add 14 local and regional restaurants serving crab cakes to halibut tacos to seafood gumbo, plus vegetarian and non-seafood items. More? A live oyster bar, Northwest beer and wine, live music, and family-friendly activities. Admission is free! Nine tons of fresh whole Dungeness crab were sold in 2019! This is not to be missed.

The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival's 20th annual event takes place over three days-Friday-Sunday October 8-10. Hours are Friday 12 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. It all takes place at the Port Angeles City Pier right on the downtown waterfront. www.crabfestival.org


Conversation, Thompson Seattle

You've missed conversing at Conversation, right? No more-brunch is back seven days a week, dine-in or to-go! Treat yourself to an indulgent menu of handcrafted brunch classics along with a full coffee bar and selection of boozy breakfast libations. Try the Brunch & Booze (B&B) featuring any two entrees and a carafe of mimosa for $59. Besides traditional eggs and bacon, you'll find waffles with blueberries and whipped cream (oh yes, maple syrup, too), eggs Benedict, bagels and lox, croissants, and more. All enjoyed, if you wish to dine in, relaxing in their light and airy dining room.

Dunham Cellars

Each year Dunham Cellars proudly partners with their favorite chefs for a Harvest Winemaker Dinner Series. Guests are given a facility tour of harvest in action before adjourning to the Hangar Lounge for an elegant multi-course meal that is locally sourced and expertly paired with Dunham wines. Guests are seated with members of the Dunham Cellars family, giving them an opportunity to learn about the history of the winery while getting to know the people behind the winery on a personal level. These dinners are beautifully crafted and undoubtedly memorable for all who attend!

Dunham Cellars is located at 150 E Boeing Avenue in Walla Walla. Evenings begin at 5:30 with a tour of the winery. Dates are September 25 (Votano Hellenic Taverna), October 2 (Rupert's at Hotel McCall), and October 9 (Where There's Food-eat it). Dinners are $155 or $145 for Wine Club. TRACE Market, W Seattle

TRACE Market, the newly reimagined breakfast and lunch hot spot at W Seattle, launches its All Day Weekend Brunch Bonanza. Along with the full breakfast menu with favorites like the Island Breakfast Sliders and Blazing Bagel Breakfast Sandwich, Chef Ross Lewis has added new items like a Croque Madame with smoked pork, Gouda mornay, topped with a fried egg; and Shrimp & Bleu Cheese Market Salad making things a bit more "brunchy." Coffee bar, Hone Blends' ceremonial matcha, and mouthwatering breakfast pastries round out the experience. Find seasonal whole fruits, freshly pressed juices, and plenty of wow-worthy swag in TRACE Market's Grab & Go alcove.

Pogacha

Seasonality is a joy: you've loved Pogacha's summer specials alongside your favorite menu items. As the changing seasons approach bringing new flavors of fall and winter, you can look forward to some new dishes at Pogacha. Their fresh pasta dinners are wonderful year 'round like the Dobar Chicken and Bella Mushroom Raviolis (photo), particularly comforting in autumn. In addition, Weekly Dinner Features will continue. Their beverage menu will include new seasonal specialty drinks, featuring smaller distilleries that excel at their craft. Changes to the wine list are coming, too.
