June weather comes and goes, but mentally we're in good weather mode. That means we're ready for happy hours, brunches, eating outside because we want to, finding new wines to love from the Seattle Wine Awards, and celebrating a lot, including dad on June 20!

Woodblock Happy Hour

Ready to feel social and happy again? Woodblock's award-winning happy hour is your ticket to good times. Seattle Wine Awards

Can you imagine tasting nearly 900 wines in a two-day period? In April, that's exactly what a highly esteemed and experienced panel of local to international Master Sommeliers, Wine Directors, Buyers, Winemakers, Journalists, and Masters of Wine did during the Seattle Wine Awards. Entries included white, red, rosé, sparking, dry, sweet, fortified, mead, and fruit wine styles and were tasted in a single-blind format (grape/blend variety or style known, vintage, price, producer not). Top wines by consensus were recognized with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Double Gold Grand Awards of Excellence. Learn about the panel and process here.

Washington State's most prestigious and comprehensive independent wine recognition program, the Seattle Wine Awards, was founded in 2006. Registration for 2022 entries will be accepted through early April. Click here to see 2021 results (Best of Class to be released in late June.)


Dock & Drink

Spending time lakeside is something we long for. All seasons are beautiful, but summer? Sun, slight breezes, water lapping. And that is why Dock & Drink speaks to us. Views, live music, elevated offerings as well as street tacos, sliders, signature fries. Plus locally-inspired cocktails and beer. But wait, there's more! The Renton Urban Market pop-up is available on weekends in the month of June: small businesses, artists, vendors. Ideal for browsing and buying. Each Sunday, Yappy Hour in partnership with Tito's Vodka means you and your dog get to party together. High five!

A Bit of Taste - Queen Anne Olive Oil Co.

Celebrating anniversaries for at least a month is always a good idea. A Bit of Taste's anniversary will perk up June with free weekly workshops and benefits going to four non-profits. As always, savor flavors of the month. Strawberry balsamic is a lovely contrast between ripe, juicy strawberries and smooth aged balsamic, ideal for marinades, dressings, cheese plates, over yogurt or vanilla ice cream. Cilantro and Roasted Onion infused olive oil is fantastic for marinades, drizzling over vegetables and eggs, in salsas and more. It pairs well with these balsamics: Honey Ginger White, Sicilian Lemon, Grapefruit White and Oregano White.

Pogacha

A restaurant becomes a favorite for many reasons; Pogacha ensures you have much to love! Their Big Fish Fish & Chips is the thickest cut in town, hand-cut cod in special beer batter, quick fried. Two pieces with house potato wedges and tangy apple cider yogurt slaw is dinner nirvana. Choose that over weekend brunch? Impossible. Do both! For Father's Day, they celebrate all weekend. Their new wine list has a heavy emphasis on Washington and Oregon wines, plus they've added to their "Secret Stash" of specially-selected, high-quality wines in limited quantities. Summer Love at Mischief on Canal

Don't you just love summer in Seattle? Mischief does! The tent is down, sunlight floods the Courtyard and Chef John begins to reveal his summer menu. Meanwhile bar master Alana creates new, refreshing sips in the Canal Room. There's nothing quite like a lazy summer afternoon on the Canal. If you can snag a table on the beloved Rooftop Garden Terrace, you'll be in Canal view heaven. But wait! They can't open the rooftop until they hire servers and a bartender.
