As groceries go, the Town & Country markets (Poulsbo, Ballard, Greenwood, Shoreline) are way too much fun. Fresh seafoods, meats, great produce, large selection of wine. Even wheat grass for your cat. There is a huge selection of frozen seafood as well--calamari rings, prawns, etc. Whatever you want, you'll find it here. Although these are truly neighborhood markets, the offer enough to have become destination markets as well. They also offer natural and organic foods.

As always, Madison Park has fun stores to browse in and Madison Park Cellars is no exception. It's fun to head downstairs from the sidewalk to find wines at this spot. Know beforehand that the store hours posted are pretty meaningless. Like the rare and tough-to-locate wines they sell, the store is sometimes hard to get into--hours seem to be quite random.

This upper Queen Anne store is full of interesting wines. If you find you just can't make a decision, ask for help. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and love to talk wine. Great weekly wine tastings, too. And the door that leads directly into A&J Meats and Seafood is extremely handy!

This small store has so many wines packed into it, you could stay for weeks. Besides the good prices, you will love the people who work there. They are incredibly knowledgeable about what they are selling. They travel and go to wine dinners at wineries in Europe; they have all the scoop. Test their knowledge--you'll be impressed! It's also an actual market serving the neighborhood and makes great sandwiches to go.

Pete's on the Eastside is a far cry from the Seattle store. It's much bigger, but you get the same type of knowledgeable staff. It's a wine wonderland. Check out their wine tastings.

Located in the Pike Market, this wine shop has lots to choose from, including lovely glassware. Whether it's because it's in a tourist area or not, the prices seem a bit steep at times. But, as always, shopping around and comparing is a good idea and you may be able to find just what you're looking for here. Although they carry wines from all over the world, they specialize and promote Washington wines.
