Queen City Grill   206-443-0975
2201 1st Ave, Seattle   Belltown
On a corner in Belltown, the front of this restaurant draws you in. The dark wood and oval window in the door and the neon sign speak of a neighborhood bistro where you feel part of something. Inside it gets even better--large wooden booths with dim lighting and a kitchen that can be partially viewed. It would be nice anytime, but on a gray, rainy evening, you want to stay forever. The focus here is on fish and it is done very well. Sauces are wonderfully flavored and in just the right amount; your fish isn't swimming.
Specializing in Seafood, Romance.

6501 Railroad Avenue SE, Snoqualmie   Other Eastside, Out-of-Town!
Simply the most romantic out-of-the-way dining near Seattle. The five star restaurant is complimented by a breathtaking view of the falls below and on cold winter days you can anticipate snow. Sit near the fireplace and enjoy a little history--it's the last original feature of the Lodge and is nearly 100 years old. In addition to the intimate and cozy dining room, there's a nook that holds two, one for four and one that holds no more than 10. That room is tucked away one floor below the dining room and has it's own private deck. Lovely. Open for lunch and dinner.

Salmon Cooker   206-624-1890
1301 Alaskan Way, Seattle   Waterfront
Basically fast food on the waterfront--it's a great place to stop as you're strolling along enjoying the view of Elliott Bay. Fish is alder smoked, flaky and moist. There are oysters, fish sandwiches and Caesar salads. If you're still hungry, slide over to the ice cream bar and grab a sundae or cone. Pier 57.

Salty's at Redondo Beach   253-946-0636
28201 Redondo Beach Dr S, Redondo Beach   Airport (SeaTac)
All the Salty's restaurants are known for their consistently good food, but all have a slightly different feel. Salty's at Redondo Beach is much more "beachy" as it's built out over the water and sits along the promenade on the Redondo Beach waterfront. Outdoor deck dining (ODD) is primo here whether you're having lunch or watching the sun set behind the Olympics.

Salty's on Alki   206-937-1600

The view can't be beat, rain or shine, as you look over the water toward downtown Seattle and enjoy fresh seafood and steaks. Flexible banquet facilities offer lots of good options. Salty's handles large volumes of guests better than almost anyone--seafood is always moist and tender. Their nearly world-famous brunch now takes place both Saturday and Sunday.

Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar Seattle   206-462-4364
2121 Terry Ave, Ste 108, Seattle   Lake Union
Sibling to Bellevue's Seastar, this dining room is just as lovely and the seafood just as delicious. Located in the 2200 Westlake project, it's a great location near Lake Union. The lounge and raw bar offer up great fresh items and fun cocktails. Enjoy the outdoor patio on weather-friendly days.

Seattle Crab Co.   206-366-9225
1000 NE Northgate Way, Seattle   Northgate
It’s a curious habit we humans have of creating things in our image (you know, dogs in sweaters) and here’s another example. Hanging on the walls are crab shells with faces painted on them, some with hair attached. Kind of cute, yet a little worrisome. The next biggest worry is what to eat--the decision is not easy. All kinds of seafood decisions await (and there's even one lonely steak on the menu).

Shucker's   206-621-1984
411 University St, Seattle   Downtown

Spud's   206-938-0606

A Seattle fast-food tradition of deep fried fish, prawns, clams. Great location near the beach with fabulous views.

Steelhead Diner   206-625-0129
95 Pine Street, Seattle   Pike Place Market
It's diner, evolved at Steelhead. Counter seats right in front of the kitchen, booths, plain tables--very diner. Yet the food is all your favorites brought up to date--a burger with melted onions, mushrooms and Beecher's cheese, fish & chips made with Alaskan ling cod, vegie "meatloaf," Walla Walla chicken, incredible salmon, halibut and black cod.. Plus all the things you'd expect from Chef Kevin Davis--gumbo, collard greens, an "honest bowl of chili." Full bar with a nice Northwest wine list. Great view of the market and Elliott Bay.

Sullivan's Steakhouse   206-494-4446
621 Union Street, Seattle   Downtown
You won't be disappointed in this high-end Chicago-style steakhouse in the heart of downtown. Pricey, yes. Delicious, yes. Bone-in steaks, lobster tail, over-the-top side dishes and desserts. Lovely atmosphere. Live jazz. They also have a raw bar that stays open late for the night owls and after-theatre crowd. Want to go for something less expensive? Head to the lounge and enjoy the bar menu.

Sunfish   206-938-4112

Great fish and chips, calamari and seafood skewers. Good cole slaw, too. Right across from Alki Beach, you can't complain about the view. Outdoor tables along the sidewalk.

Tillicum Village   206-933-8600
2992 SW Avalon Wy, Seattle   Out-of-town!
Your one hour boat ride (leaving from Pier 55) west of Seattle to the privately owned Blake Island deposits you in a beautiful spot with trails to explore and views to enjoy. The buffet features an authentically-baked salmon meal and includes live Native American entertainment.

Totem House   206-784-2300
3058 NW 54th, Seattle   Ballard
A long-time Seattle fish and chips shop, Totem House has enough of a selection that it takes a few minutes to decide what you want off the board hanging above the kitchen. They still make malts, too. Very few tables inside and about the same outside. Friendly service.

Toulouse Petit   206-432-9069
601 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle   Queen Anne (lower)
Tired of the same old thing? Looking for a new experience? You've got it at Toulouse Petit. Bold colors outside and in, lots of beautiful metal work and an integrated bar and dining scene make for an appealing experience. Menu items generally focus on Parisian or New Orleans French but also include prime steaks. A very large menu ensures that anyone can enjoy a number of items: no group will have an unhappy member! Prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. Wines are primarily French and West Coast.

Wally's Chowder House   206-878-8140
22531 Marine View Drive S, Des Moines   Out-of-town!
Nautically-attired in wood, fish nets and glass floats, Wally’s is a fish place, for sure. Salmon and fish and chips are the big sellers. Get there by 6 p.m. on Fridays or count on waiting in line. Portions are large--order more than one piece of fish and chips and it will probably be swimming home in a box.
Specializing in Seafood.

Waterfront Restaurant   206-956-9171
2801 Alaskan Wy, Pier 70, Seattle   Waterfront
The view of the harbor barely compares to the scrumptious food offerings and the fun, curved bar. So many windows, so many good menu options. There are several meat choices, but this place is all about seafood. It's a bit pricey, but aren't you worth it? Stop in for a cocktail and appetizer at least.
