Breakfast is served every day now ("hangover breakfasts filling the community's unmet needs" ). On busy days/nights, the noise level can be high, but it's a fun place to be. Full bar.

This is a funky and young place to dine. Equipped with relaxed and beautiful scenery, the food is also varied and will suit everyone's palette. Great non-alcoholic drinks and a salsa bar increase the fun. Heat lamps and clear "plastic walls" make deck dining possible all year round.
Specializing in Mexican, Outdoor.

Barrio   206-588-8105
1420 12th Ave, Seattle   Capitol Hill
Barrio uses Northwest products to produce a Mexican-inspired menu with fun cocktails. For example, roasted breast of free-range chicken masa cake, hazelnut pipián and pomegranate syrup. Or fingerling potatoes that are chipotle roasted. Mexican and Northwest! They serve dinner and brunch.
Specializing in Mexican, Brunch (weekends), Happy Hour.

Bruno's   206-622-3180
1417 3rd Ave, Seattle   Downtown
A 3rd Avenue tradition, this combo Mexican-Italian restaurant and pizzeria has offered sustenance to poorly-paid office workers for years. Order at the counter and pick a table. Full bar.

Burrito Loco   206-783-0719
9211 Holman Rd NW, Seattle   Ballard, Crown Hill, Blue Ridge
This Mexican family restaurant is one of the most authentic in town. They carry a wide variety of items to chose from, including the traditional "tongue taco" for the brave and deep, rich mole. It's located in a small strip mall on a busy street--easy to miss, but important not to.
Specializing in Mexican .

Cactus   425-893-9799
121 Park Lane, Kirkland   Kirkland
Sibling to the Madison Park restaurant, Kirkland's Cactus boasts a similar menu with some variation, but the same great Southwestern, Mexican, Spanish influences. In nice weather, the large front windows open to the sidewalk. Full bar.
Specializing in Southwestern, Mexican, Cocktails.

Cactus   206-324-4140
4220 E Madison St, Seattle   Madison Park
A taste of good southwestern cooking awaits you in the Madison neighborhood. Start off with the blue corn chips and move onto the large portioned entrees. Always bustling, you may have to wait in line, but it's worth it. The food is good, the drinks are good and it's a lively and fun spot.
Specializing in Southwestern, Mexican, Cocktails.

Cocina Esperanza   206-783-7020
3127 NW 85th St, Seattle   Ballard
Small, cozy and candle-lit, you'll want to stay forever. They've created their own recipes that exemplify authentic cuisine from Monterrey, Mexico and prove that Mexican food does not have to be covered in cheese and doused in sour cream. Names of dishes (enchiladas, quesadillas, tostadas) may be familiar, but the flavors will take you away from the norm.
Specializing in Mexican.

Del Rio Taqueria   206-767-9102
10230 16th Ave SW, Seattle   South Seattle
The Riojas family has a nice thing going--authentic products in the grocery store and authentic food in the taqueria. The setting is colorful and fun with pinatas dangling from on high, chilies and painted vases for sale and Mexican music playing. The chilies get a workout in the restaurant as well; most items have quite a bite to them.
Specializing in Mexican.

Dos Amigos   206-770-0707
2301 5th Ave, Suite 102, Seattle   Downtown
Dos Amigos is a casual, drop-in kind of place with tasty food and very reasonable prices. If your appetite is small, go for the regular; if you're hungry, the combo includes rice, beans and a fountain drink. They offer imported Mexican soft drinks and beer. Added bonus: the fresh salsa bar.
Specializing in Mexican.

El Chupacabra   206-706-4889
6711 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle   Greenwood
Decent Mexican food 'forged in the style of San Francisco’s Mission District’ (which should save you hundreds in airfare each year). It’s a hip place with the young crowd in the evenings as the scratch margaritas flow from the always-happening bar. Food is well prepared and plates are plentiful - choose from appetizers and main courses. Lots of avocado in use and thank goodness they’ve finally added guacamole. Open from lunch till 2 a.m. with the kitchen staying open til 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends.
Specializing in Mexican.

El Puerco Lloron   206-624-0541

Specializing in Mexican.

Galerias   206-322-5757
611 Broadway Ave E, Seattle   Capitol Hill
Despite the campy interior of this Mexican restaurant the food is much more genuine than the buzzing wait staff.
Specializing in Mexican.

Gallo de Oro   425-487-9554
10015 Main St, Bothell   Bothell
Mole poblano, mole verde, Dungeness crab enchiladas and margaritas--you want to go right now, don't you?
Specializing in Mexican.

Girasol   425-778-9898
9818 Edmonds Wy, Edmonds   Edmonds

Specializing in Mexican.

Gordito's Healthy Mexican Food   206-706-9352
213 N 85th Ave, Seattle   Greenwood
A good bet for vegetarians, but Gordito's also caters to meat eaters with wholesome, healthy home cooking. Outdoor patio is nice on sunny days.
Specializing in Vegetarian, Mexican.

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant   206-935-8595

Hard to miss this bright blue building--the color does tend to brighten your mood. Billed as "A neighborhood Mexican place," they offer standard Mexican favorites.
Specializing in Mexican.

La Cabana   206-322-9643
2532 Beacon Ave S, Seattle   Beacon Hill
Fairly standard Mexican menu of rellenos, enchiladas and carnitas de res. If you're hungry, go for the combo. Enjoy the tortillas and salsas while admiring the large pictures of Aztec traditional stories.
Specializing in Mexican.

La Carta de Oaxaca   206-782-8722
5431 Ballard Ave NW, Seattle   Ballard
Oaxaca comes to Ballard. This spare-looking place fills up fast and feels comfy and cozy as you make your trip to the salsa bar and snack on homemade chips (there is a charge, but you can have all you want). Nothing is over $9 food-wise and there's a full bar--so get on down and have a margarita with your mole negro or posole. Small plates are fun to share or hoard. Be sure to look for the address as there's no sign outside.
Specializing in Mexican.

La Cocina del Puerco   425-455-1151
10246 Main St, Bellevue   Bellevue
A fun spot in Old Bellevue, there is little comfort in unmatched chairs and tables. Flags hang throughout the room along with colorful decorations. Order at the counter and find a place inside or out. Lots of imported beers to accompany handmade tortillas, tamales and rellenos.
Specializing in Mexican.

Mama's Mexican Kitchen   206-728-6262
2234 2nd Ave, Seattle   Belltown
Comparable to L.A.'s El Cholo, Mama's dishes are home made Mexican food served amid velvet paintings and traditional mariachi music. Inexpensive and filling.
Specializing in Mexican.

Matador   206-297-2855
2221 NW Market St, Seattle   Ballard
If you feel welcomed by a metal skull hanging over the front door, this is the place for you! The Matador offers a pleasant environment with wood tables and chairs, earth-tones and a long bar along one side of the room. It does tend to get loud, however. Possibly related to the number of tequilas available. Sidewalk seating is available in nice weather and the round fireplace inside warms the cold evenings. The menu includes tapas, soups and salads, taco plates and entrees like ancho-chipotle baby back ribs.
Specializing in Mexican, Southwest.

Maya's   206-725-5510
9447 Rainier Ave S, Seattle   South Seattle
This is one of those neighborhood places that the neighbors really support. Because of this, the feeling is friendly and homey. The other lure is the food. It may be the familiar dishes seen at most Mexican restaurants, but the portions are large, prices reasonable and food tasty. Full bar.
Specializing in Mexican.

Mexico Cantina y Veracruz Cooking   206-405-3400
600 Pine St, Seattle   Downtown
Offering a taste of Mexico in the very American Pacific Place Shopping Center, Mexico offers an open feel, standard plates (enchiladas, tacos, burritos) and some special plates (Acapulco salmon, shrimp in adovo sauce, skewered chicken).
Specializing in Mexican.

Ooba's Mex Grill   425-702-1694
15802 NE 83rd St, Redmond   Redmond
Fun, cheap and good places to grab a bite are always a find. Certainly big money was not spent on the furniture here which includes mismatched tables and some folding metal chairs. High ceilings and exposed duct work complete the "we threw this together" look. Place your order at the counter in front of the open kitchen. Daily specials are definitely worth checking out. Definitely fresh food.
Specializing in Mexican, Kid-Friendly.

Peso's   206-283-9353
605 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle   Queen Anne (Lower)
In the early days, when it was time to party, this was the place to be. It actually still is, but Peso's has grown up, too. The menu has many Mexican-influenced dishes as well as true Mexican fare and the wine list is over 200 bottles. Breakfast is served every day now ("hangover breakfasts filling the community's unmet needs" ). On busy days/nights, the noise level can be high, but it's a fun place to be. Full bar.
Specializing in Mexican.

Rosita's Mexican Restaurant   206-523-3031
7210 Woodlawn Ave NE, Seattle   Green Lake
Rosita's does not indulge itself with flash and fanfare, instead it keeps the ambience simple and lets the food speak for itself. This location is always busy, probably that Green Lake proximity. Full bar.
Specializing in Mexican.

Selena's Guadalajara   206-632-7858
1715 N 45th St, Seattle   Wallingford
Bright colors throughout (on the posts, tables, etc.) can really lighten up your mood. You'll find the expected Mexican dishes here--no surprises, good or bad.
Specializing in Mexican.

Senor Moose Café   206-784-5568
5242 NW Leary Ave, Seattle   Ballard
Over 30 years of eating and living in Mexico means authentic food at Senor Moose. Recipes are mostly from the states of Michoacan, Jalisco and Nayarit as well as Mexico City. It's a casual place with friendly chatter, tables as well as counter seats and a warm welcome.
Specializing in Mexican, Breakfast, Dinner.

Sonrisa   206-524-2242
2614 NE 46th St, Seattle   University Village
It's dim (in a good way), with the modern retro look that's popular now (also good), and filled with some great taped music. All in all, a nice atmosphere with dining up front and the bar at the back in a direct line from the front door. Menu items do include classic Mexican items like chile relleno and carne asado tacos. They also have ancho rubbed ribs, sangria prawns and a fig-balsamic dressed spinach salad.
Specializing in Mexican (modern).

Tenoch Mexican Grill   206-583-8010
206 5th Ave S, Seattle   International District
Fast food for you, but preparation time is lengthy, so flavors are vivid. Eight types of burritos await you, along with tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, salads, chilaquiles and a tortilla soup. Yum!
Specializing in Mexican.

Tia Lou's   206-733-8226
2218 1st Ave, Seattle   Belltown
This reasonably-priced Mexican restaurant is true to its roots, both in food and décor. It's a nice alternative to the fairly average Mexican food in the city.
Specializing in Mexican.
