Red Fin Restaurant
206-441-4340
612 Stewart St,
Seattle
Downtown
Bold coloring and very tall front windows make quite a statement. Booths manage to give a sense of privacy and tables along the front window get the view of sidewalk activity. A step up lands you in the lounge and sushi bar. The restaurant serves the hotel as well as the general public, so breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. There are a few non-Japanese dishes, but the vast majority of the menu is made up of noodles, sushi, sashimi and bento boxes. You'll also find fun dishes like fish 'n chips--miso-poached salmon with Japanese sweet potato tempura. Nightly specials give a reason to return frequently. Specializing

How can you not love conveyor-belt sushi? It's the perfect deal when you're going casual. You get the restaurant experience, but you just pick your favorite item as it passes you on the conveyor belt. Eat as much or little as you like. Okay, we all know it's never "little." Blue C has animation and other videos flashing on the huge wall above the spinning sushi. You even get a button to push when you need a wait person--service when you want it!

Nigiri, rolls (vegetarian and not), gyoza, tempura, bento, donburi--you can get it all at this easy-to-miss Japanese spot in Fremont. An interesting entry has you overlooking the restaurant before going downhill in a narrow hall before entering the simple restaurant. Gives you time to see what others have ordered and make some decisions.

Flo

1188 106th Ave NE,
Bellevue
Bellevue
Large windows, dark furniture, pale yellow walls and jazz make this a very pleasant place to enjoy a meal. The sushi bar is up front and center along an interesting sand-like wave wall (you'll have to see it yourself) and the dining room is a few steps down past a curved wall. You're in the flow now. Sushi is very fresh and the menu includes lots of rolls and interesting options. The daily special sheet is a very innovative place to be, combining Japanese and Hawaiian culinary treats.

Fuji Sushi
206-624-1201
520 S Main,
Seattle
International District
On a hill slightly above the International District, this restaurant uses the time-honored rule of Japanese decorating--keep it simple. Thin wood slats on the lower windows create an Asian feel while providing privacy. The full bar is just inside the main door and is separated from the dining area by short dividers. Tatami rooms are at the far end near the small sushi bar. Traditional dishes stock the menu and the sushi is fresh and tasty. Try any of the lunch combos.

Moshi Moshi

5324 Ballard Ave NW,

Ballard
The owners of Bricco wine bar on top of Queen Anne have stretched their wings and opened a sushi spot in Ballard. We love diversity! A cool metal Sakura tree from Japan filled with LED lights over looks the happy sushi eaters. But there's much more to the menu than sushi--salads (seaweed, spinach, seafood), seared tuna, seared beef, tempura. Along with sake and Japanese and domestic beers, they have a wide range of cocktails to complement their food.
