Sibling to the Madison Park restaurant, Kirkland's Cactus boasts a similar menu with some variation, but the same great Southwestern, Mexican, Spanish influences. In nice weather, the large front windows open to the sidewalk. Full bar.

Madison Park
A taste of good southwestern cooking awaits you in the Madison neighborhood. Start off with the blue corn chips and move onto the large portioned entrees. Always bustling, you may have to wait in line, but it's worth it. The food is good, the drinks are good and it's a lively and fun spot.

Fremont
Tasty Southwestern Tex Mex with a fun patio for summertime visits. If you've been before, you should know that a building in front has blocked the view from the deck, but it's still a fine place for an outdoor meal. Full bar features the best in margaritas and other concoctions with a south of the border twist.

Matador

2221 NW Market St,
Seattle
Ballard
If you feel welcomed by a metal skull hanging over the front door, this is the place for you! The Matador offers a pleasant environment with wood tables and chairs, earth-tones and a long bar along one side of the room. It does tend to get loud, however. Possibly related to the number of tequilas available. Sidewalk seating is available in nice weather and the round fireplace inside warms the cold evenings. The menu includes tapas, soups and salads, taco plates and entrees like ancho-chipotle baby back ribs.

Z'Tejas

Bellevue
Let's just say it right out--it's a chain. This store is the only one in this area, however. And we have to admit, these people really know how to do chains. Z'Tejas calls its food "New American Cuisine," but it screams Southwestern. Nice seafood dishes, pork and black bean nachos, crab-stuffed chicken, smoked chicken chile relleno--lots to choose from. Bar food is good and the bar is fun.
