35th Street Bistro   206-547-9850
709 N 35th, Seattle   Fremont
Bistro is a word that gets tossed around a lot, but it really is appropriate here. It's a small café-style spot with mixed wood furniture, live trees and a small bar area with a few tall tables to go with the bar seating. Whenever possible, they use local, organic foods. Dishes include braised meats and fresh seafood. There's a good-sized wine list with plenty of by-the-glass options. Tasty brunch and bar menu.
Specializing in European, French, Italian, Northwest, Outdoor, Seafood, Brunch (Sat-Sun), Romance, Wine, Christmas (Eve), New Years (Eve).

Carnegie's   206-789-6643
2026 NW Market St, Seattle   Ballard
When you're in the mood for something a bit more upper crust, consider Carnegie's. Antiques, lots of dark wood accents, white linens and curved walls in several rooms offer a lovely environment. The full bar is a nice place to try a Pernod (or a Bud Light--your choice) and sample a small plate, appetizer or cheese selection. The dining room menu changes, but you can usually find beef, chicken, maybe Wiener Schnitzel and coq au vin, seafood and lamb.
Specializing in European, Northwest.

Cedar's   206-527-5247
4759 Brooklyn NE, Seattle   University District
Owned by the same family that owns India House, Cedar's serves some of the city's best Indian food to locals and visitors to the University District. The menu also includes some Middle Eastern and European dishes.
Specializing in Indian, Middle Eastern, European.

Danube Bistro   425-452-8722
11000 NE 10th St, Ste B, Bellevue   Bellevue
Warm colors invite you to relax as you savor Eastern European dishes: cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, Czech roast duck, goose liver pate, chicken stroganoff. Good salad choices as well as several sandwiches, including a steak sandwich with onions and mushrooms.
Specializing in European, Lunch.

Grand Cru Wine Bar   425-455-4278
1020 108th St NE, Ste 100, Bellevue   Bellevue
This cool urban space located on the ground floor of a luxury apartment building is just the spot to try wines by the glass, bottle and flight while pairing with small plates and signature plates/platters. Dishes have a global bent from rabbit roulade to pulled pork sliders. Signature plates focus on wine-friendly foods--charcuterie and cheese (paired with champagne, white wine, red wine). Wine prices range from very reasonable to pricey--something for any occasion.
Specializing in Wine, International, European, Wine Bars.

Nell's   206-524-4044
6804 E Green Lake Wy N, Seattle   Green Lake
Nell's offers a list of healthy a la carte options as well as lush 5-course meals. It's a lovely spot for a special meal, yet many customers come back frequently, like it's a casual neighborhood spot. Fine meals followed by great desserts. Nice wine list.
Specializing in European, Northwest, Dessert, Wine, Outdoor, New Years (Eve).

pair   206-526-7655
5501 30th Ave NE, Seattle   Ravenna
pair business cards read "food.wine." Pretty darned simple. Concept: simple. They provide various small plates and you mix and match to create the perfect dinner for you. Interior: simple. Almost stark, yet you settle in and feel right at home. Food: seems simple, but it is a deception. There is great complexity and flavor in the dishes and desserts; you'll want to return and try them all.
Specializing in International, European.

Paul's Place   206-523-9812
4741 12th NE, Seattle   University District
An airy dining room with café curtains and wood accents creates a nice dining space. There's also garden dining to take advantage of sunny afternoons. This continental menu features seafood and Northwest produce.
Specializing in European, Outdoor.

Poppy   206-324-1108
622 Broadway East, Seattle   Capitol Hill
Choose from the prix fixe dinner with numerous small portions served on a tray Thali style or go for a selection of "smallies" at varying prices. Don't confuse Thali-style serving with Indian food. It's the style of service, but the food is Northwest, international, eclectic kind of stuff. It would be rare to be disappointed. If you have trouble hearing in loud restaurants, go early. Once it gets packed, it's pretty loud.
Specializing in Northwest, European, International.

Russell's Restaurant & Bar   425-486-4072
3305 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell   Bothell
Russell's can be a slight challenge to find, but don't give up--it's well worth the extra effort. Owned by Russell Lowell of catering fame, the dishes are a delight. Sauces add depth to fresh meats and sseafood, everything is cooked to perfection and flavors are different, intriguing and delicious. The long room has the feel of wine country with nicely spaced tables, fireplaces and interesting artwork. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, full bar.
Specializing in Northwest, European, Wine, Banquet.

Steps Wine Bar & Café   360-370-5959
140-a First St, Friday Harbor   Out-of-town!
Simple, warm, inviting. Locally-sourced products mean fresh dishes. Wines by the taste, glass and bottle mean experimentation is fun and not a financial disaster. Sit, sip, sample. Talk with others around you. The perfect way to enjoy food, wine and company.
Specializing in Northwest, International, European, Wine.

Szmania's   206-284-7305
3321 W McGraw St, Seattle   Magnolia
The creative and ever-changing menu of this restaurant makes this a unique and lovely place to dine. Although the fare is constantly changing you can always be sure that it will be good. Full bar.
Specializing in European, Romance.

Union   206-838-8000
1400 First Avenue (at Union), Seattle   Downtown
Urban, sleek and a bit retro, this corner spot pulls you in through gigantic windows to enjoy an award-winning wine list and menu items that teem with flavor. Chef/Owner Ethan Stowell shares his culinary view of the world--you won't find these combinations on every corner, just First & Union. Enjoy the daily tasting menu (eight courses!) or order a la carte. Full bar.
Specializing in Wine, Northwest, European, French, Eclectic.
