A Piece of Cake   206-623-8284
514 S King St, Seattle   International District
It's really much more than cake, although that might be enough considering how they rate on the luscious meter. There are all sorts of Hong Kong-style pastries, some sweet like coconut buns and some filled with barbecued pork or Chinese sausage. Sit and enjoy or rush it home.
Specializing in Chinese.

Bamboo Garden   425-688-7991
202 106th Pl NE, Bellevue   Bellevue
Just off 106th Street (part-way up 2nd), the Bamboo Garden offers free parking in downtown Bellevue. Now that's worth talking about. Of course, food must be discussed also. One of the amazing things about the food here is that even the "bland" dishes are done well, i.e., a white sauce on prawns. Delicious. They offer authentic Sichuan dishes like sliced pork belly with bell peppers and The Swimming Fire Fish. Spicy dishes are also done well. A large menu takes some time to get through, but it's an enjoyable trip.

Black Pearl   206-365-8989
14604 15th Ave NE, Shoreline   Shoreline
Sibling to the Wedgwood Black Pearl, this restaurant continues the trend of lots of takeout and home deliveries. It's a small dining room and family oriented. The menu is fairly large and includes fresh homemade chow mein noodles. Beer and wine.
Specializing in Chinese.

Black Pearl   206-526-5115
7347 35th Ave NE, Seattle   Wedgwood
This humble restaurant is located in a high-volume neighborhood. Indeed, takeout and home deliveries make up around 60% of the business. The menu is fairly large and includes fresh homemade chow mein noodles. Beer and wine.
Specializing in Chinese.

Café Calva   206-283-2878
1905 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle   Queen Anne (Upper)
With just a very few tables and a small sushi counter, Café Calva is an intimate spot, a great place to huddle on a wintery day or a cool spot to weather the admittedly few truly hot summer days. They have a nice mix of Chinese and Japanese menu items, plus fresh nigiri, sashimi and rolls. Bubble tea and espresso are also offered. Friendly owners help make it part of the neighborhood.
Specializing in Sushi, Japanese, Chinese.

Café Ori   425-747-8822
14339-I NE 20th St, Bellevue   Bellevue
Wood accents and lots of natural light create a pleasant setting in which to enjoy the diverse menu. Try a pearl drink as you peruse the 100+ item menu.
Specializing in Chinese.

Canton Wonton House   206-682-5080
608 S Weller St, Seattle   International District
There are times when ambiance is everything. At those times, do not come to this no-frills soup and noodle house. It’s one small room with a linoleum floor, plain tables with black metal chairs (padded) and fluorescent lighting. A window looks into the spotless kitchen. Good flavors are where the emphasis is here--soup selections cover an entire page of the two-sided menu.
Specializing in Chinese.

Cascade Garden   425-391-9597
1580 NW Gilman Blvd, Issaquah   Issaquah
Plum-colored booths offer a nice place to settle while enjoying homemade noodles used in tasty and healthy dishes. You don't really feel like you're in a shopping center. Full bar.
Specializing in Chinese.

Chau's Chinese Restaurant   206-621-0006
310 4th Ave S, Seattle   International District
Oddly located in the middle of no-man’s land between the International District, Pioneer Square and downtown, Chau’s looks a bit run down from the outside. Stepping inside, you won’t be amazed at the opulence - it’s clean but utilitarian. The seafood, however, has made believers of its loyal customerss. Breath in the steaming garlic sauce the oysters are bathing in, savor Dungeness crab highlighted by ginger and onion.
Specializing in Chinese.

China Gate   206-624-1730
516 7th Ave S, Seattle   International District
Enjoy dim sum and other favorites at this long-time International District location (although new owners took over in 2008).
Specializing in Chinese, Dim Sum.

Doong Kong Lau   206-526-8828
9710 Aurora Ave N, Seattle   North Seattle
Hakkan food is the subject of this restaurant--a large menu filled with noodles, hot pots, sizzling platters and crispy duck. When you just have to "go to the cart," dim sum is served here on weekends.
Specializing in Chinese.

Four Seas   206-682-4900
714 S King St, Seattle   International District
Parking spaces are like gold in the International District and this is one of the few restaurants with a lot of its own. The spaces go quickly, so plan to be there for dim sum when they open at 10:30 a.m. In addition to the varied tastes of dim sum, there is a full Chinese menu with all the standards. Full bar.
Specializing in Chinese.

Fu Man Dumpling House   206-364-0681
14314 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle   North Seattle
Dumplings, potstickers and buns, oh my! Homemade in the kitchen behind the window, these could be considered snacks, but you'll eat so many, it's really a full meal. Beware the dipping sauce with enough garlic to ward off vampires for a week. They also offer soups, noodles (and noodle soups) as well as roast chicken and a Chinese beef sandwich.
Specializing in Chinese.

Genghis Khan   206-682-3606
1422 First Ave, Seattle   Pike Place Market
Beneath a bright awning near the Pike Place Public Market, locals come to enjoy inexpensive Chinese food. It’s a fast-food type of experience so don’t dress up or plan to spend hours savoring that last pea pod. Delivery and take out are a good part of their business and they cater meetings or parties with simple appetizer platters or regular menu items.
Specializing in Chinese.

Grand Jumbo Chinese Restaurant   206-760-9200
4208 Rainier Ave S, Seattle   Columbia City
It's big and so are the flavors. Good variety on dim sum and everything is very fresh. It can feel a bit cavernous as you walk in, but once you start eating and talking you never notice it again. Amazing variety of dishes, including some done Vietnamese style.
Specializing in Chinese, Dim Sum, Banquet.

Greenwood Mandarin   425-747-9888
3303 156th SE, Bellevue   Factoria
A bright spot (literally) in the midst of car dealerships and office buildings, a brilliant red door leads to a menu of over 40 options at lunch. Dinner offers even more choice.
Specializing in Chinese.

Hing Loon Seafood Restaurant   206-682-2828
628 S Weller St, Seattle   International District
When food is the driving force and ambiance is not, Hing Loon is the perfect spot. This one-room International District restaurant has vertical blinds on the large windows and construction paper signs all over touting special dishes in Chinese and English. The menu is lengthy without the specials and includes lots of noodle dishes, udon, hot pot and beef organs.
Specializing in Chinese.

Ho Ho Seafood   206-382-9671
653 S Weller St, Seattle   International District
Large windows with blinds and a neon "Open" sign are as simple as the interior of Ho Ho--Formica tables and fish tanks. This is another example of substance taking precedence over style. Shellfish dishes are numerous and mouth watering, placing crab in curry, and prawns with honey walnuts.
Specializing in Chinese.

Honey Court Seafood   206-292-8828
516 Maynard Ave S, Seattle   International District
The lavender and white color sscheme outside is eye-catching and continues throughout the interior. Fish flourish inside--fresh fish tanks and an aquarium (the aquarium fish seem somehow more carefree). Walls are painted with ocean scenes of fish and plants. A full Chinese menu is offered along with good dim sum.
Specializing in Chinese, Dim Sum.

Hong's Garden   425-228-6332
64 Rainier Ave S, Renton   Renton
Two large dining rooms are filled with maroon and teal colors in this casual spot. They offer dim sum daily along with their regular menu. You can get around the large menu by choosing lettered lunches (A-E) or numbered dinners (1-3). But it's more fun to read all the options and try something new.
Specializing in Chinese, Dim Sum.
