FOX Sports Grill
206-340-1369
1522 6th Ave,
Seattle
Downtown
Lots of "natural" wonders here--a couple of waterfalls and some rock walls. Upstairs inside the entrance are more tables with ringside seats for watching sidewalk sports as well as those on TV. Downstairs the bar/dining area has several large screen TVs and numerous small screens around the room--can't miss a moment of FOX! A separate non-blaring TV dining room (of course there is a TV there, it's just turned down a bit) is a nice change of pace. The wine room is great for a private party. Chicken strips, prime rib dips, steaks and a fresh sheet plus some nice desserts are what to expect from the menu. Tasty large salads, also. Breakfast is available on weekends until 2 p .m. Full bar. Salish Lodge Dining Room
800-272-5474 or 425-888-2556
6501 Railroad Avenue SE,
Snoqualmie
Other Eastside, Out-of-Town!
Simply the most romantic out-of-the-way dining near Seattle. The five star restaurant is complimented by a breathtaking view of the falls below and on cold winter days you can anticipate snow. Sit near the fireplace and enjoy a little history--it's the last original feature of the Lodge and is nearly 100 years old. In addition to the intimate and cozy dining room, there's a nook that holds two, one for four and one that holds no more than 10. That room is tucked away one floor below the dining room and has it's own private deck. Lovely. Open for lunch and dinner. Specializing

Bamboo Bar & Grill
206-937-3023
2806 Alki Ave SW,
Seattle
West Seattle
Going to the Bamboo is a bit like going on vacation. If you're inside, there are flowered stools and tiki tchotchkes. If you're outside, you're under an umbrella right across from the beach. Tough decision. The menu has many choices, some of them tiki-esque (do they have burger dips in Polynesia?). But there is something for just about everyone, so make your selection and enjoy your vacation.

Beba's Deli Market
206-770-9595
2301 5th Ave, Suite 103,
Seattle
Downtown
Beba's has been around for a long time and is still a great place for sandwiches. But owner Nazir Khamisa has taken it to a new level, creating a place where you can get almost anything between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pasta? They've got it. Breakfast? You bet. Jumbo baked potatoes, lasagna, espresso, salads, soup? Yes, yes, yes.

Beth's Café
206-782-5588
7311 Aurora Ave N,
Seattle
Green Lake
A legend in its own time, Beth’s has now spread next door (Beth’s Annex). Generations, it seems, of drinkers know this is where you go at the end of the evening. Where else can you find 12-egg omelets and hash browns that don’t quite fit on the plate? There are other menu items, but breakfast is served 24 hours a day. Why mess with tradition?

Buckley's on Queen Anne
206-691-0232
232 First Ave W,
Seattle
Queen Anne (Lower)
Let's hope Buckley's makes a go of it (in general and in this location which has turned over so much that it makes your head spin). It's a place that feels like things are happening there--probably because of the high ceilings. It's loud most of the time and really loud when a sporting event is on TV. Good burgers, salads, fish and chips and sandwiches fill the pub grub category, but there are also pastas, a stir fry, chicken and steak.

Pub Grub, International, Breakfast (weekends). |

Canterbury
206-322-3130
534 15th Ave E,
Seattle
Capitol Hill
A large English lodge plopped down onto 15th should look odd, but it’s been here so long that it would seem wrong without it. Although not open until 11 a.m., breakfast is served from that point on--omelets, pancakes, huevos rancheros. The menu is lengthy and has something to please everyone. Full bar.

American, Breakfast. |
