08/25  Garden Cinema at The Inn at Langley
Each Wednesday night in August, Chef Matt Costello will host Garden Cinema at The Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island. To accompany the movies, which will start at dusk between 8:30 and 9:00, Matt will serve an à la carte menu of casual evening fare, sweets and hot and cold drinks. Each guest will be provided a blanket and The Inn’s beautiful herb garden will serve as backdrop. Garden Cinema is free and open to both Inn guests and the public, but since seating is limited, reservations are suggested. The Inn is also offering a Garden Cinema room special on the nights movies are shown--$250 for a waterfront guest room (regular price, $290) plus two tickets to Langley’s Clyde Theater for either Tuesday or Thursday evening. Join the New Wine Hop Down Post Alley! Starting tonight, four friendly drinking establishments along historic Post Alley have banded together to create a fun new Thursday Night Wine Hop. Kells, Post, White Horse and our own Tasting Room are now offering $4 glasses of wine every Thursday between 5 and 7 p.m. Each venue will choose a wine of the night, depending upon their whim. 08/29  Summer Sunday Supper at Volunteer Park Cafe
This is a casual, chef’s whim three-course family-style dinner featuring local products and goodies from the garden. Once the permitting process is taken care of, these dinners will take place in the garden, and until then, they will begin with a drink in the garden followed by dinner in the cafe. Start time is 6pm and cost is $25/person, which includes house-made lemonade infused with herbs from the garden. Wine and beer will be available for additional cost. 09/10  Non-traditional winemakers dinner with Charles Smith at Volunteer Park Cafe
On Friday, September 10, Ericka Burke and Heather Earnhardt welcome rock star winemaker, Charles Smith, to Volunteer Park Cafe for a night of celebrating great friendships, wine, food, and life in general. This will be the fourth wine dinner the ladies have hosted with Smith, and the last three are still being talked about for the abundance of great wine, delicious food, rowdy conversation, and loud music. This is not your traditional wine dinner! Come experience a selection of wines produced by Smith, named 2009 “Winemaker of the Year” by Food & Wine and 2010 “Winemaker of the Year” by Seattle magazine, paired with Burke’s beloved rustic seasonal fare. The menu includes five courses plus wine, and Smith has hinted that he’ll be bringing a super special wine to share at the dinner.
